Seashell Mirrors
My name is Debbie Nilson-Riley and I am the owner of "The Healing Feeling". I am a self-taught artist who has always been drawn to the ocean. I am inspired by all the beautiful seashells that come from it, with their many colors and unusual natural shapes and designs. I have visited many of the old grottos in Europe and have seen many beautiful shell art creations on several islands in the Carribean. My appreciation of these pieces from these exotic locations that I have visited has inspired me to work with seashells and design and create my own versions of unique mirrors. My process takes place in my home studio and I lose my sense of time when creating. I choose and place my shells carefully in each mirror. In some of my work I use other mediums including glass beads, sea glass and sand. I use many different types of shells, including Irish flats, Irish baking scallops, Mexican flats, cardium cardissa (heart shaped shells), noble pectins for their pastel hues, sundials, tiger clam shells and many others too numerous to mention. Each mirror is an original work of art and I guarantee that no two of my pieces are identical. The mission of my company is to offer an original hand crafted mirror to the purchaser that they will admire and showcase in their home.
